At Crossfire our heart is to partner with you as a parent to help your student love God, love people, and love life. Studies today show that 78% of students say that their parents are the ones that are most influencing their actions and attitudes, for the good or bad. In fact, studies show that a student’s parents have three times more influence on their child than a youth pastor does. While we do not take our role lightly, please know that the best way for your student to develop a relationship with God is for them to see you live a consistent Godly lifestyle! We want to do all that we can to help partner with you and provide a safe, fun and Godly atmosphere for your child. Below you will find the answers to most of your questions, but if you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to give us a call or email.
Crossfire Elements | 6.8 and 9.12
Crossfire Student Ministries has two elements or departments, which are categorized by age:
Crossfire 6.8
_ Junior high (grades 6th - 8th)
_ Family groups meet during the Wednesday night service
_ Service: Wednesdays, 7:15 pm
Crossfire 9.12
_ Senior high (grades 9th - 12th)
_ Family groups meet during the week, usually on Monday nights in homes around the area
_ Service: Wednesdays, 7:15 pm
*Please Note:
_ 9th graders are allowed to attend the 6.8 service if the wish to. However, we do ask that they are consistent. By that we mean once they decide which service they want to attend, they need to be faithful to that service.
_ Typically, Crossfire 6.8 students will meet separately from 9.12 students on Wednesday nights. 1BigParty is a Wednesday service where all ages will meet together. (4-5 times a year)
Crossfire Elements | Our Strategy
Crossfire’s strategy (Love God, Love People, Love Life) was developed to simplify the mission into a tangible process for students and leaders. It is based off of the two greatest commandments found in Matthew 22:34-40.
_ Love God
We want to create an atmosphere where students can encounter and grow in their relationship with God, whatever stage they are at. Through our weekly services, summer camps, retreats, and family groups, we will create an atmosphere that will provide students the opportunity to love God with all of their heart, soul, and mind. We want students to experience God and grow in their personal relationship with Him.
_ Love People
We want to share the life changing love of God with others. Through outreaches, speed the light giving, mission trips, weekly services, and family groups, we will challenge our students to live a lifestyle of loving people.
_ Love Life
We want students to keep growing in their relationship with God their entire life and to realize that their relationship with God permeates every area of life. We also want them understand that you can have lots of fun while serving God. We will give students a safe place to explore who God is and what he has designed them to be.
Q & A | Commonly asked questions
Below you will find the answer to questions that parents commonly ask:
Where does my student go on Sundays?
Crossfire is not a “youth church.” We operate as a ministry of The Bridge AG. Therefore, we encourage each student to get involved in a Sunday service. We offer discipleship on Sunday mornings for 6.8 and 9.12. The discipleship classes are meant to be a supplement to the Sunday morning worship service in the main sanctuary.
Sunday Church | Main service options:
_ 08:15 Traditional Service
_ 09:30 Contemporary Service (Most students attend this service)
_ 10:45 Traditional Service
Discipleship | Discipleship options:
_ 09:30 There is a student discipleship option for 6-8th grades during this time in the 6.8 building.
_ 10:45 During this time slot we bring the 6.8 and 9.12 students together for discipleship. We offer different electives for the students to choose from. Most students attend this discipleship option.
How do I get my student involved?
Student really need two things to get involved: a connection point and consistency. Wednesday nights are a great place for your student to be introduced to Crossfire, but if you really want them to get connected then encourage them to be active in a Family Group. Second, students need consistency. Relationships take time and when a student’s attendance to service is hit and miss, it makes it much harder to develop strong relationships.
What is the big deal with Family Groups?
Discipleship can only truly take place when it flows out of relationship. Crossfire averages well over 300 in attendance on a Wednesday night. On any given Wednesday night there could be than 160 students in 6.8 or 9.12 respectively. Therefore, it can be easy to get lost in the crowd. When your child gets involved in Family Group they will be in a smaller group of about 12-20 students. Once in a Family Group a student can more easily connect with friends, their adult leader, and therefore learn more about God. Family groups are the backbone of Crossfire Student Ministries.
What are the most important events?
We have activities throughout the year to allow your child to connect to their friends. Besides weekly services and Family groups there are three critical activities that you do not want your child to miss: Youth Camp, Retreat (6.8 Spring Retreat and 9.12 Discipleship Camp), and youth convention. While the other events are lots of fun, these three events could literally change their life forever!
What adults help out with my kids?
Your child’s safety is our top priority. We only allow approved volunteer leaders to serve in leadership at Crossfire. Our volunteer leaders attend monthly training sessions and go through an extensive screening, background check, and application process. Our volunteers are excellent and truly feel called to help disciple your student. Your children are blessed by these adult leaders volunteering their time and are expected to show them respect at all times.
Can I sit in on a service?
We do allow parents to sit in on a service. However, we do ask that you check in with the youth pastor or an adult leader, get a parent badge, sit towards the back, and not interfere with the students or the service. While we do allow parents in the service, this should not be the norm. Other than parents, we only allow approved leaders to be in the service due to our goal of maintaining a safe environment. If you would like to be a leader you can contact one of the youth pastors to begin that process. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
